An open-source virtual office for your team

Lightweight, open-source
virtual office.

A place for your remote team that stays open all day without slowing your machine down. See who is around at a glance and ask “got a sec?” without booking anything.

✓ Self-host free forever✓ Hosted: 30-day free trial, no credit card

One install Teammates open the invite link and join in the browser.

Work remotely, the way you did in the office.

Everyone on one floor. Sense who’s around, gather in a space, call out to someone. What you did in the office still works here.

The Hiroba lobby: an isometric office with desks, a meeting room and a kitchen, and nine avatars spread across it

In the lobby, you can feel who’s around

The open floor everyone lands on. Walk closer and their voice fades in. That’s where the small talk happens.

The “Dev” team space: four avatars around a round table on a rug

Make as many team spaces as you like

Add a space per team or project from the + tab. Pick a layout (meeting room, desks, lounge or café), and everyone inside stays on one voice call.

The lobby during a call, with an “In call with Ren” banner and share-screen, camera and hang-up buttons at the top right

Anyone further away, just page them

Pick a name from the roster and you’re in a 1:1, whatever space they’re in. Share your screen right there. DND is respected.

What Hiroba does.

See who is in, walk over, and talk. That alone brings back the feel of an office.

See who’s in at a glance

Here, away, on a call, or do-not-disturb: it’s always on the roster.

Walk over and talk

No meeting, no invite. Step up to someone and voice connects.

Page anyone with one click

Pick a name from the roster for an instant 1:1, wherever they are. Screen sharing included.

Light enough to leave open all day.

A heavy tool gets closed, and an empty office is all that’s left. Hiroba is built to run all day behind your real work.

0% Idle CPU Near zero when still and silent
~100MB Resident memory Designed to stay small, even left running all day
<300ms Voice latency Direct P2P, no noticeable lag
Seconds to boot Startup time Tauri client, smaller and lighter than Electron

Figures are design targets. We’ll update them with measured results.

It’s open source.

Server and client are Apache-2.0. Read the code, verify the claims, run your own server.

Try Hiroba with your team.

Start with 2–3 people and choose a time to try it together. Your 30-day hosted trial starts when you create an org. No credit card required.

1. Install the desktop app. Only you need to.

Only the person setting things up needs the macOS or Windows app. Downloads are served from GitHub Releases; macOS builds are signed and notarized.

2. Create an org and invite your teammates

Sign in with Google, GitHub, or email and create an org. Send its invite link to your teammates. They join from the browser, nothing to install.

3. Get on the floor together

Join at the agreed time, unmute your microphones, and walk over to each other to talk. Try leaving Hiroba open during your next work session.

Download the app

On Windows, one command works too: winget install hiroba
